Yvette Manard, MPH
President of Proactive Patient Services (PPS)

Yvette Manard is owner and president of Proactive Patient Services (PPS).  Ms. Manard oversees the firm's healthcare consulting activities. She coordinates the delivery of precise services to the firm's client by coordinating and supervising the team of experts  to deliver professional business services.

PPS provides a comprehensive package of consulting services to a broad spectrum of healthcare providers including medical groups, healthcare systems, hospitals, health plans, and physicians. Services include the creation and execution of business and marketing plans, market research, human resources, operations and management, health promotion, training and staff development, business and financial assessments, contracting and provider relations. The principal focus of this firm's service is on the creation and retention of a profitable patient base for the firm's clients.

Ms. Manard has 25+ years experience in working with medical groups, hospitals, health plans, physicians, and colleges to maximize their growth and profitability through cost-effective marketing programs.  Ms. Manard has successfully worked with major medical groups, HMOs, and multi-hospital systems throughout the United States to develop and implement marketing plans that target patient growth and retention. She has developed sales strategies and programs for commercial and senior HMO products and governmental programs, including Medicare and Healthy Families. Ms. Manard also works with colleges and universities to develop visibility and outreach programs designed to increase student enrollment in various healthcare programs.

Prior to starting Proactive Patient Services, Ms. Manard was responsible for leading the corporate marketing activities for one of the largest medical groups in Los Angeles, CA. This medical group included a large staff-model practice and many IPAs in southern and northern California. She also served as a regional marketing director for a large not-for-profit healthcare system. In this capacity, she directed the strategic planning, business development and physician marketing for three hospitals, eight affiliated medical groups, and independent physicians.

Ms. Manard received her master's of public health in health services administration from the University of California at Los Angeles. She conducts staff development training and lectures in healthcare management, marketing, and business development.

 

Karen Carr-Crawford, MS
Director of Business Development

Karen Carr-Crawford is the owner of the Small Business Builders, a small business enterprise focused on the development of pre-venture, start-up, and emerging entities. The business was formed 15 years ago to fill the need in the market for cost effective strategic solutions to business growth and marketing development needs.

Ms. Crawford began her marketing career working in the area of medical practice consulting and marketing where she worked with Yvette Manard, MPH, President of Proactive Patient Services.

Ms. Crawford has launched a number of business start-ups over the last 15 years through consulting, entrepreneur training, business incubation, and business acceleration programs.  Ms. Crawford is pleased to be collaborating with Ms. Manard to further help clients successfully grow their business.

In addition to working with professional owners and operators, Ms. Crawford has provided direct services for the Small Business Development Centers (SBDC'S- The SBA's technical services providers) for the last year years, she has delivered services to a variety of businesses in Los Angeles County, Orange County, and recently in the Inland Empire.  Service deliveries for the SBDC's include business consulting in the area of start-up basics, business plan development, marketing plan development, and access to capital.  Ms. Crawford has provided loan packaging assistance to small businesses for SBA products including 7 (a), microloans, and 504 loan programs.

Karen Carr-Crawford has a BA from Cal State University Fullerton in criminal justice, and a master's degree in public policy from University of Southern California. 

 

Norman Davidson, MS
Contracting & Revenue Recovery

As Contracting and Revenue Recovery specialist for Proactive Patient Services (PPS), Norman Davidson brings 25 plus years of experience in working with physicians, medical groups, independent practice associations (IPAs), surgery centers, hospitals, hospital systems, integrated health care systems, and an association.

Working in conjunction with Proactive Patient Services, Mr. Davidson consults in the areas of development, negotiation and operation of HMO, PPO, and other managed care contracts, including capitated and fee-for-service methodologies. His expertise is used in helping hospitals and physician organizations establish win-win situations for their managed care arrangements. Mr. Davidson works closely with the marketing team to assist in strategy development to increase patient volume through contracting.

Mr. Davidson is responsible for the Provider Health Services (PHS) division which specializes in helping health care providers maximize their profitability with PPOs, HMOs and other managed care contractual arrangements.  Mr. Davidson team provides the necessary expertise in the business operations of managed care, including revenue recovery.  Proactive Patient Services'  team has an excellent track record in negotiating with managed care health insurance companies to assist hospitals, medical groups and physicians to obtain maximum reimbursement for the services provided.  We review throughput systems to ensure that they support the terms and conditions of the contracts.

Mr. Davidson has taught managed health care and pharmacy risk programs. Mr. Davidson has degrees in biology and a master's of science degree in gerontology from the University of Southern California.

 

Dann Froehlich
Art Director – Branding, Image Development, Design & Collaterals

As Art Director for Proactive Patient Services (PPS), Dann Froehlich brings 15 years of creative experience in the graphic design/advertising industry to PPS's clients. Working in conjunction with PPS, Mr. Froehlich helps to create marketing programs and ad campaigns, special events, and collateral materials for variety of businesses and organizations.

Specializing in graphic design for businesses and healthcare organizations, Mr. Froehlich provides creative, dynamic, and cost effective creative solutions with personal service. His extensive knowledge of printing and production services combined with high quality design skills offers clients a full range of services at competitive costs.

Mr. Froehlich has worked with PPS on creating design and advertising programs for California State University, Dominguez Hills School of Health, West Coast Fertility Centers, Sierra Health Services, Avanti Health Systems, Community Hospital of Long Beach, and numerous other clients. Additional clients include Memorial Medical Center, Huntington Beach Hospital, and Institute for Healthcare Advancement, Research & Education Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, The Broad Foundation and many others.

Mr. Froehlich is owner and creative director for Dann Froehlich Design in Long Beach, CA. He has worked with PPS for over 20 years. 

 

Suzette Ali, MBA
Human Resources Management Specialist


Ms. Ali is the owner and human resource consultant of Rx:  HR Management Solutions. Ms. Ali has joined with Proactive Patient Services to provide human resource management and training services to clients.   In her role as a consultant, she provides small healthcare practices, urgent care centers, home health agency, assisted living facilities, pain management center, and small healthcare businesses with mobile human resource services.   She oversees staffing and recruitment services, employee relations, compensation, and human resource advisement for these facilities.

Ms. Ali has over 10 years of experience in human resource management in the healthcare Industry.  She has worked for mid-size, not for profit hospitals in California and Missouri.  For these organizations, she has overseen recruitment and staffing, compensation, and employee relations.  Ms. Ali has successfully recruited and staffed over 500 positions for these institutions.  She has performed pay grade analysis and proposed recommendations for pay grade standards.  She has also assisted in labor campaigns with various labor unions and actively participated in the negotiation of a labor contract with United Nurses Association of California.  Ms. Ali has written employee handbooks and policy and procedures to comply with labor contracts.  She has managed grievance proceedings, responded to EEOC claims, and represented these institutions in unemployment claims. 

In her last position, Ms. Ali was responsible for managing the Human Resource function of 5 mid-size ambulatory clinics for a large managed care group.   In this role, she coached managers with progressive discipline, assisted with the delivery of performance appraisal reviews, and provided mediation services for employee conflict.  She worked directly with the clinic administrators to address and resolve department and clinic employee morale issues.  She was also responsible for providing employee training and development for these centers.

Ms. Ali received her master's in business administration with an emphasis in human resource management from Keller Graduate School of Management in Long Beach, California.  She also holds a BA in healthcare administration from California State University at Long Beach.

 

Ingrid Humphrey, BA
Marketing, Public Relations, Senior Marketing Specialist 

Ingrid Humphrey brings to our clients more than 30 years' experience in public relations and marketing communications, the last ten of which as vice president of marketing for Sierra Health Services in Las Vegas, Nevada. A diversified managed healthcare organization, Sierra Health Services was acquired by UnitedHealthcare in 2008.

Ingrid's areas of expertise include image and brand management, media relations, copywriting, website development, social media coordination, direct response marketing and customer reference programs. Ingrid specializes in the senior market working with health insurance companies and medical groups looking to grow their Medicare book of business.  Ingrid holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health services management from University of La Verne, La Verne, CA.

Yolanda V. Williams, Ed,D, MPH, CHES
Health Promotion and Education Specialist

Dr. Williams is the Health Promotion and Education Specialist or Proactive Patient Services.  She is responsible for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of patient health education and promotion modules for our clients. She works with the senior management to team to develop strategies to cross-market wellness programs to increase organizational visibility and patient growth and retention. Dr. Williams also works with our training department to develop and implement a variety of staff training modules ranging from caring for an aging population to developing leadership and management skills.

Dr. Williams has 25+ years of experience as a Certified Health Education Specialist, (CHES), administrator, professor, and counselor in the fields of public health, administration, organizational leadership, aging and care giving, early childhood development, and developmental disabilities.

As the Director of Health Education and Wellness, for a Southern California HMO, Dr. Williams was responsible for creating and implementing A Four Level Health Promotion program for Commercial and Senior members, Employer Groups, and Medical Offices. She has participated in the planning, review, and contractor selection for marketing of a prevention and education initiative, and conducted staff and physician training for seniors, prenatal, and children's programs. Dr. Williams has worked as at the Statewide and Federal level, and has negotiated millions of dollars for the provision of health promotion and prevention programs.

Her clients have included San Bernardino Department of Aging and Adult Services, Women's Health Forum, Development Associates, Inland Empire Health Plan, Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program, L.A. County Prop. 10 Commission,  Inland Regional Center, and others.

Dr. Williams holds a doctorate in organizational leadership, a master's of public health in health education from the University of California at Los Angeles. She also completed the Graduate Gerontology Certificate program California State University Fullerton and she is certified as a Health Education Specialist from the National Commission on Health Education.

 

Dennis John Gaschen, APR, Senior Consultant
Media & Public Relations Specialists

Dennis Gaschen, APR has practiced the art of aligned communications for more than 25 years. He combines a bachelor's degree in marketing and a master's degree in communications with a 25+ year career in public relations. Mr. Gaschen served as public relations director of the United Way of Orange County and Saint Joseph Hospital in Orange, and administrative director of marketing and communications for UniHealth America. In 1995, Mr. Gaschen launched his consultancy and has worked collaboratively with Proactive Patient Services.

In addition to his corporate experience, Mr. Gaschen further refined his craft through university teaching. He has been on the faculty of California State University, Fullerton's College of Communications since 1994. He was a columnist for Tactics from 2000-2005, and has authored more than 85 articles on the public relations profession. Mr. Gaschen also has presented numerous workshops on writing, creativity and strategic planning..

An accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, Mr. Gaschen serves on PRSA's national board. In 2010 Dennis was induction to PRSA College of Fellows
He also was past-president of the Orange County Chapter of PRSA, and past-president and lifetime member of the Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations Association. He's former chair for PRSA's Western District. In 2004, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the PRSA's Orange County Chapter. In 2007, he was named an "Outstanding Professor" by the California State University, Fullerton Alumni Association.

Julie Engelhardt

Julie Engelhardt brings 20 years of radio, television and freelance writing experience to the public relations industry.

Ms. Engelhardt has done public relations work for the Orange County Fairgrounds, Tenet Healthcare, Corona Public Library, and Riverside Community College. Julie has managed media campaigns, special events and community programs benefiting a number of businesses and organizations.

Due to her many years as a writer, reporter, and assignment editor, Ms. Englehardt offers personal service with a unique media perspective. Her extensive knowledge of media and business is combined with relentless perseverance to gain positive visibility for her clients.

Ms. Englehardt holds a bachelor's degree in communications from California State University, Fullerton, with an emphasis in radio, television, and film.
